Memberships
SLAP memberships aim to support athlete access, facility sustainability, and community-based snow sport development.
Memberships are designed to create a clearer pathway for athletes, families, supporters, and community members to participate in and support SnowLab Athlete Project.
Membership revenue helps SLAP strengthen the long-term foundation of The Spot YYC, support access-based initiatives, and build future opportunities for athletes and community programs.
Membership Categories
SLAP membership categories are designed to reflect different types of participation and support.
Flagship Athlete Membership is intended for athletes in good standing with Freestyle Canada who are participating in SLAP-supported access, training, or facility opportunities connected to freestyle snow sport development.
Athlete / Individual Family Member Membership is intended for athletes from other sports backgrounds or development pathways, and for Family Members of athletes, who may benefit from access to SLAP-supported benefits programs or community opportunities.
Supporter Membership is intended for individuals, families, or community members who want to support SLAP’s nonprofit purpose without requiring athlete access to The Spot YYC.
Family Membership is intended to support families with multiple athletes or family members participating in SLAP-supported opportunities.
How Memberships Help
Memberships help SLAP build a more sustainable foundation for athlete access, facility operations, and community-based development.
Membership support may contribute to:
- Long-term facility sustainability
- Athlete access initiatives
- Facility improvements
- Equipment maintenance and upgrades
- Community programming
- Partnership and sponsorship development
- Future grant and donor-supported projects
Memberships are one part of SLAP’s broader effort to reduce barriers, create opportunity, and strengthen the long-term future of off-snow training access in Calgary.
Access & Insurance Notes
SLAP membership does not automatically guarantee access to The Spot YYC or any specific program, session, or facility booking.
Facility access is managed through organized programming, team bookings, camps, coach education courses, community collaborations, and approved SLAP-supported opportunities.
Where access to The Spot YYC is involved, users must be Freestyle Canada members in good standing or be participating as part of an approved external team, club, or organization that has provided an accepted Certificate of Insurance.
This structure helps ensure that facility use occurs within an appropriate framework for sport, insurance, and supervision.
